Στις 7.8.2026, η Ισραηλιτική Κοινότητα Θεσσαλονίκης υποδέχθηκε τον Υφυπουργό Εξωτερικών της Ομοσπονδιακής Δημοκρατίας της Γερμανίας, κ. Florian Hahn, ο οποίος πραγματοποίησε επίσκεψη στο εργοτάξιο του Μουσείου Ολοκαυτώματος Ελλάδος, στα γραφεία της ΙΚΘ και στο Εβραϊκό Μουσείο Θεσσαλονίκης. Τον Υφυπουργό συνόδευαν η Γενική Πρόξενος της Ομοσπονδιακής Δημοκρατίας της Γερμανίας στη Θεσσαλονίκη, κα Monika Frank, καθώς και το στέλεχος του Γενικού Προξενείου, κα Αργυρώ Ταταρούδη.
Από πλευράς της Ισραηλιτικής Κοινότητας Θεσσαλονίκης, το «παρών» έδωσαν
ο Πρόεδρος του ΚΙΣΕ και της ΙΚΘ, κ. Δαυίδ Σαλτιέλ, ο Αντιπρόεδρος του
Κοινοτικού Συμβουλίου, κ. Λάζαρος Σεφιχά, η Γραμματέας του Κοινοτικού
Συμβουλίου, κα Χάνα Πίντο, ο Ελεγκτής του Κοινοτικού Συμβουλίου, κ. Σαμουήλ Βαρσάνο,
ο Γενικός Διευθυντής της ΙΚΘ, κ. Βίκτωρ Ναρ, ο Βοηθός του Προέδρου, κ. Μωρίς
Σαπόρτα και ο δικηγόρος και συνεργάτης της ΙΚΘ, κ. Zvika Barak.
Πρώτος σταθμός της επίσκεψης ήταν ο χώρος ανέγερσης του Μουσείου
Ολοκαυτώματος Ελλάδος, στον παλαιό Σιδηροδρομικό Σταθμό Θεσσαλονίκης. Ο κ. Hahn
ξεναγήθηκε στο εργοτάξιο και ενημερώθηκε αναλυτικά για την πρόοδο του έργου από
στελέχη της METKA ΑΤΕ και από τον αρχιτέκτονα κ. Πέτρο Μακρίδη. Η επίσκεψη
αποτέλεσε ευκαιρία να αναδειχθεί η σημασία του Μουσείου ως έργου μνήμης,
παιδείας και ευθύνης, το οποίο θα συμβάλει ώστε να καταστεί ορατό και να
τιμηθεί το μαρτύριο των θυμάτων του Ολοκαυτώματος.
Στο πλαίσιο της επίσκεψης, ο Πρόεδρος του ΚΙΣΕ και της ΙΚΘ, κ. Δαυίδ
Σαλτιέλ, παρέδωσε στον Γερμανό Υφυπουργό την έκδοση που περιλαμβάνει στοιχεία
από τη μελέτη και τα αρχιτεκτονικά σχέδια του κτιρίου του Μουσείου
Ολοκαυτώματος Ελλάδος.
Ακολούθησε συνάντηση στα γραφεία της Ισραηλιτικής Κοινότητας
Θεσσαλονίκης. Κατά τη διάρκειά της, ο κ. Σαλτιέλ αναφέρθηκε στις προκλήσεις που
αντιμετωπίστηκαν στην πολυετή πορεία έως την έναρξη της υλοποίησης του
Μουσείου, καθώς και στη σημασία της σημερινής φάσης κατασκευής του. Παράλληλα,
τέθηκε το ζήτημα του σύγχρονου αντισημιτισμού, ο οποίος εντείνεται διεθνώς και
απαιτεί διαρκή εγρήγορση, συνεργασία και αποφασιστικές πρωτοβουλίες από τους
θεσμούς και τις κοινωνίες των Ευρωπαϊκών χωρών.
Στη συνάντηση συζητήθηκαν επίσης ζητήματα που αφορούν την τρέχουσα και
τη μελλοντική συνεργασία της Ισραηλιτικής Κοινότητας Θεσσαλονίκης με την
Ομοσπονδιακή Δημοκρατία της Γερμανίας, με κοινό άξονα τη διαφύλαξη της
ιστορικής μνήμης, την εκπαίδευση και την καταπολέμηση κάθε μορφής
αντισημιτισμού. Με την ολοκλήρωση της συνάντησης, ο κ. Hahn έλαβε αναμνηστικά
δώρα από την Ισραηλιτική Κοινότητα Θεσσαλονίκης.
Η επίσκεψη ολοκληρώθηκε στο Εβραϊκό Μουσείο Θεσσαλονίκης, όπου ο
Υφυπουργός ξεναγήθηκε από την Επιστημονική Υπεύθυνη του Μουσείου, Δρ Ξένια
Ελευθερίου, ενώ στο τέλος της ξενάγησης του προσφέρθηκαν αναμνηστικά δώρα και
σχετική έκδοση του Μουσείου.
Αποτυπώνοντας τις εντυπώσεις του από τη συνολική του παρουσία στη
Θεσσαλονίκη, ο Γερμανός Υφυπουργός Εξωτερικών κ. Hahn σημείωσε χαρακτηριστικά
σε ανάρτησή του: «Θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω την εβραϊκή κοινότητα Θεσσαλονίκης
για τη φιλοξενία και την εντατική ανταλλαγή απόψεων. Εντυπωσιακή πρόοδος στην
κατασκευή του Μουσείου Ολοκαυτώματος στην Ελλάδα – στηρίζουμε τις προσπάθειες
να γίνει ορατός και να τιμηθεί ο πόνος των θυμάτων. Πολύ συγκινητική ήταν και η
επίσκεψη στο Εβραϊκό Μουσείο Θεσσαλονίκης. Καθιστά σαφές πόσο σημαντικό ρόλο
έχει διαδραματίσει η εβραϊκή κοινότητα στην ιστορία της πόλης και πόσο
σημαντικός είναι ένας ζωντανός πολιτισμός μνήμης μέχρι σήμερα. Μόνο όσοι
γνωρίζουν το παρελθόν μπορούν να αντλήσουν τα σωστά διδάγματα για το παρόν και
το μέλλον».

VISIT OF THE GERMAN DEPUTY FM TO THE JEWISH COMMUNITY OF THESSALONIKI
On 7 August 2026, the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki welcomed the
Deputy Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Florian Hahn,
who visited the construction site of the Holocaust Museum of Greece, the
offices of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, and the Jewish Museum of
Thessaloniki. The Deputy Foreign Minister was accompanied by the Consul General
of the Federal Republic of Germany in Thessaloniki, Ms. Monika Frank, and Ms.
Argyro Tataroudi, a member of the staff of the Consulate General.
Representing the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki were the President of
the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS) and the Jewish
Community of Thessaloniki, Mr. David Saltiel; Vice President of the Community
Council, Mr. Lazaros Sefiha; Secretary of the Community Council, Ms. Hanna
Pinto; Auditor of the Community Council, Mr. Samuel Varsano; Director General
of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, Mr. Victor Nar; the President’s
Assistant, Mr. Morris Saporta; and the lawyer and consultant of the Jewish
Community of Thessaloniki, Mr. Zvika Barak.
The first stop of the visit was the site of the Holocaust Museum of
Greece, at the former Thessaloniki Railway Station. Mr. Hahn was given a tour
of the construction site and received a detailed briefing on the progress of
the project from representatives of the METKA S.A. construction company and the
architect, Mr. Petros Makridis. The visit provided an opportunity to highlight
the significance of the Museum as a project of remembrance, education, and
responsibility, which will help make visible and honor the suffering of the
victims of the Holocaust.
As part of the visit, the President of KIS and the Jewish Community of
Thessaloniki, Mr. David Saltiel, presented the German Deputy Foreign Minister
with a publication containing material from the study and the architectural
plans for the Holocaust Museum of Greece.
A meeting at the offices of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki
followed. During the meeting, Mr. Saltiel referred to the challenges that had
been faced throughout the many years leading up to the commencement of the
Museum’s implementation, as well as to the significance of its current construction
phase. The issue of contemporary antisemitism was also raised. Antisemitism is
intensifying internationally and requires constant vigilance, cooperation, and
decisive initiatives by institutions and societies across European countries.
The meeting also addressed issues concerning the current and future
cooperation between the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki and the Federal
Republic of Germany, with a shared focus on preserving historical memory,
education, and combating all forms of antisemitism. At the conclusion of the
meeting, Mr. Hahn received a souvenir from the Jewish Community of
Thessaloniki.
The visit concluded at the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki, where the
Deputy Foreign Minister was given a tour by the Museum’s Scientific Director,
Dr. Xenia Eleftheriou. At the end of the tour, he was presented with
commemorative gifts and a publication of the Museum.
Reflecting on his overall visit to Thessaloniki, German Deputy Foreign
Minister Mr. Hahn wrote in a post: “I would like to thank the Jewish community
of Thessaloniki for its hospitality and the intensive exchange of views.
Impressive progress in the construction of the Holocaust Museum in Greece – we
support efforts to make visible and honor the suffering of the victims. The
visit to the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki was also very moving. It makes clear
how important a role the Jewish community has played in the city’s history and
how important a living culture of remembrance remains today. Only those who
know the past can draw the right lessons for the present and the future.”
