The
Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece expresses its
unwavering solidarity with the citizens of Israel, who once again
find themselves under the relentless barrage of mass missile
attacks launched by Iran.
The
storm of missiles directed against innocent civilians in the
heart of Israeli cities constitutes tangible proof of the
existential threat posed by the theocratic regime of the Islamic
Republic of Iran to the Jewish state and to stability across the
Middle East. No people and no nation can remain passive when its
very existence is actively and explicitly threatened.
For
years, the Iranian regime, through an extensive network of proxy
organizations, has financed and supported terrorism throughout
the region and beyond, indiscriminately targeting innocent
civilians. The attacks of October 7, 2023, which resulted in the
murder of 1,200 Israelis, the ballistic missile strikes against
cities in Israel as well as in neighboring Arab states, and the
regime’s persistent pursuit of nuclear weapons of mass
destruction serve as the most tragic reminder that these were not
mere rhetorical threats, but rather a calculated strategy to
destabilize the broader Middle East, with the primary objective
of annihilating the State of Israel. For this reason, we commend
the decisive role of the United States of America in the
definitive elimination of the Iranian threat.
We
stand firmly beside the citizens of Israel in these critical
hours and extend our heartfelt sympathy to the families who have
lost their loved ones during the missile attacks launched by the
regime in Tehran.
At the
same time, we express our support for the Iranian people, who
continue to struggle for their dignity and for the enjoyment of
the fundamental blessings of freedom and democracy.
